A cargo claim is a written complaint demanding financial compensation from Amerijet International Airlines for loss of, damage or
delay to cargo whilst in care and control pursuant to a contract of carriage.

In the case of damage or delay, the person entitled to delivery must complain to Amerijet International Airlines within the time lines stated below. If no complaint is made within the times indicated below, then no action can be brought against Amerijet International Airlines.

2 Damage. To consignment whole or in part. 14 days from receiving consignment.
3 Partial loss. Some of the consignment is missing or damaged. 14 days from receiving consignment.
4 Delay. To complete consignment or part of it 21 days from the placing date.

If a preliminary claim was not submitted through our e-Claims portal, then a copy of the official complaint made to Amerijet International Airlines must be uploaded into your formal claim file. Also an official claim from the person entitled to delivery must also be uploaded.

Filing deadline for concealed damage claim 14 days from the date of delivery for damage, shortage, or pilferage claims; 120 days for claims involving non-delivery. Claims filed later are subject to denial.

Inspection procedure For potential claims in excess of $1,000, we reserve the right to send a surveyor to examine the cargo.

Initial notification of claim: Use the Claim Letter form.

Required documents to support claim:

  • Formal claim letter, stating dollar amount of claim (in U.S. Dollars).
  • Copy of original invoice.
  • Copy of Commercial Invoice.
  • Copy of Packing List on shipment, indicating lost or damaged items.
  • Shipper's Letter of Instruction.
  • Original Air Waybill.
  • Copy of Delivery Receipt(s).
  • Surveyor's damage report.
  • Copy(ies) of discrepancy certificates and out-turn reports.
  • Condemnation certificates (if applicable).
  • Photos of damaged item(s), if available (required for claims exceeding $750).
  • Other relevant information pertaining to shortage or damages.

Depending on the type and extent of the loss, Seven Seas Insurance may require additional documents to substantiate your claim.

Initial Notification of Claims

Submit your claim through CargoClaims by going through Access Gate (This page).
Required fields:

  • Name of Shipper.
  • Name of Consignee.
  • Air Waybill number.
  • Date shipment was delivered to air carrier.
  • Carrier name and flight number.
  • Port of departure and destination.
  • Description of the goods shipped, and their value (if known).

Required Documents to support your Claim submission

  • Copy of initial notification of claim.
  • Formal claim letter
  • Dollar amount of claim (in U.S. Dollars)
  • Copy of original invoice.
  • Copy of Commercial Invoice.
  • Packing List on shipment, indicating lost or damaged items.
  • Shipper's Letter of Instruction.
  • Master Air Waybill.
  • House Air Waybill (for consolidations).
  • Transfer Manifest (for interline shipments).
  • Freight charges collected, if known.
  • Copy of Warehouse Receipt or equivalent.
  • Copy of Delivery Receipt(s).
  • Cargo damage report.
  • Surveyor's damage report.
  • Copy(s) of discrepancy certificates and out-turn reports.
  • Condemnation certificates (if applicable).
  • Photos of damaged item(s) and of non-delivered freight, if available (required for claims exceeding $750).
  • Damage repair estimate (for damage claims only).
  • Landing Certificate/Customs Declaration.
  • Letter of subrogation (if the right to the claim is transferred to a third party).
  • Other relevant information pertaining to shortage or damages.
